Body wraps, as the name suggests, is a process of wrapping the body for weight loss. It is a treatment in which the body is tightly covered with ace bandages or plastic wraps; this causes a quick weight loss through vasodilatation. Some spas are still offering this temporary way of loosing weight.

Saloons are offering another service under the term ‘body wrap’. In this treatment a body mask made up of algae, mud, clay, seaweed, lotion or cream is applied on your body and the body is wrapped for 20 minutes to keep you warm. After that the mask rinsed off. Later, lotion is applied to end the process. Body cocoon or body mask are some other titles for this process.

Some body-wraps use algae, sea weed, clay, mud, lotion and detox treatments. They are extremely good for handling the toxin’s body through metabolic metabolism. Some others use rich lotions and shea butter. These wraps are good for hydration and softening of the skin.

Process in a Body Wrap

Usually the process of body wrapping begins with exfoliation, which is done through a dry body brush or a salt scrub. Often a body wrap begins with exfoliation through dry brushing or a salt scrub. You then, can be asked to lie down on plastic, towel or sheets.

Important Things to Watch Out For With a Body Wrap

  • Body wrap is not a massage. You can have them both or you can go for signature treatment including scrub, body wrap and massage.
  • Claustrophobia should be avoided because it is not the right choice for you.
  • Usually you have to stay alone while the process going. If you are not comfortable with it than resolve it before you go for treatment.
  • Some therapists have a hard hand in applying the scrub; if you feel any discomfort then speak it up as it is risky, at times.
