Sweating varies in degrees and in perspiration types. Particularly, ‘’Bromhidrosis’’ i.e. excessive body odor is a specific variety of this odor. It is the most common among all.

What is Bromhidrosis?

Human secretory glands are basically divided into 2 primary types: apocrine and eccrine glands. Eccrine glands are primarily involved in thermoregulation through sweat excretion and are distributed over the entire skin surface.

Apocrine glands, involved in the axilla (armpits), breasts and genital skin and a contrast to the Eccrine glands have a limited distribution. Although, apocrine glands doesn’t work in thermoregulation but they are responsible for characteristic pheromonic odor.

The apocrine glands basically have bacteria attracted and multiplied on them before they release secretions with toxins which are the cause of offensive armpit odor.

Lime juice is a fantastic natural remedy for treating armpit odor. In contrast to its results, its application is simplest, just take half of the key lime and rub onto your armpits.

As per side effects, if your underarm skin started lightening, than don’t worry, let your citric acid have its side effects, just naturally dry your underarms after that and let them soak the citric acid themselves into your underarm pores.

Beware of the fact that lime juice can discolor you clothes so always get them dry before wearing clothes. Also, if you get cuts and rashes from over-drying than avoid it.

Alum

Alum is a perfect treatment for armpit odor. It is a concentrated, crystal form of deodorant (aluminum chloride). Not only it helps you in taking rid of your armpit odor but it is also useful for control sweating in the first place. (It is not recommended because of its side effects are dangerous since the particles can enter your body and can cause diseases like cancer)

Alum crystal can be directly rubbed onto armpits, rightly after drying from a bath. But a little care is required in rubbing them on your skin because of their jagged edges which can cause irritation. Always opt for the smooth crystals.

Vinegar

Another wonderful treatment for armpit odor is the use of Malt Vinegar or Apple Cider Vinegar on the armpits at night. It is good to be repeated after drying from a shower. But air dries the vinegar, first.

The acidity of the vinegar can neutralize the bacteria of Apocrine glands.
