Acne products are frequently used by people but they do have many side effects. Sometimes the side effects overcome actual benefits of acne products.

Irritation
Almost all the acne products result in severe or mild irritation. This irritation normally occurs on the part of the skin when acne creams are applied. In case of oral medication, the irritation may occur on the entire affected skin region. Irritation is very unpleasant situation because the person can’t do anything about it. He has to bear it as he is not allowed to touch the affected skin part because this results in severity of the problem. A lot of patience is needed in this regard.
Dryness
It is also a very common side effect of the acne products. There is very less retention of water so the skin is dry. The person looks for water every now and then but this is not the solution to the problem. He might feel comfortable after drinking plenty of water but only for some time. After this the previous condition is restored and again the person feels dryness on the skin. This problem can be solved with proper medication that results in more water retention in the body.
Swelling
Mostly in case of acne creams, this problem arises that the skin swells from the area where the cream was applied. This not very painful but looks extremely bad. As most of the creams are applied on the face, so swollen face skin doesn’t give a good impression. This increase the depression and anxiety of the affected person. It also cuts a person off from rest of the society. So we can call this a very serious side effect
Discoloration
This problem is a product of laser surgery. The part where laser surgery was applied is discolored and looks separate from the normal skin. It also adds to the discomfort of the person. It is not so common in case of ordinary medication. It is one of the reasons why people don’t prefer laser over medication.

The benefits of acne products are at a side but there are plenty of disadvantages of them as well. Most common side effects of acne products include irritation, dryness, swelling and discoloration of the skin.
